1. Do a lot of burpees.

Like, a lot. “He hates them, but it’s a love-hate relationship,” says Roxx with a laugh. Roxx once made Drake do 100 burpees in a single workout, which he says took the star about 35 or 40 minutes to complete. Set a timer and start jumping, y’all.

2. Skip the pasta.

This was a hard one, especially since apparently Drake used to eat a fair amount of pasta on tour. “Italian food is probably one of our whole team’s favourite [things],” says Roxx. “But cutting down on that really helped with his cutting phase.”

3. Also cut back on booze.

Sorry! We didn’t say this was easy, but if Drake can ease up on the white wine, you can too.

4. Pick up those weights.

“We just switched to weight training from doing callisthenics and body movements, because at one point we were slimming down, and now he’s on a bulking phase,” explains Roxx. “Now we’re doing heavier weights and more compound movements. And we’re getting there! We got him to a good point, but we’re still pushing.” Wait, so…he’s going to look even better?!

5. Pick one goal and crush it.

Roxx says pull-ups are Drake’s favourite move because of the pride involved. “We worked on pull-ups for a long time to get him to do a muscle-up. He was aiming for it for a while.”

6. Even your dancing should be athletic.

The iconic “Hotline Bling” dance might not exactly challenge your cardio endurance, but Scott says many of Drake’s moves are inspired by his athletic prowess. “A lot of his movement has a lot to do with sports. The way he moves onstage looks like he’s playing basketball or shooting — unless he’s on the double phone or playing tennis!” says Scott, laughing. “Depending on the artists I work with, whatever hobbies they have, I just bring that. You’ll see a lot of things that resemble [sports] in the routine.”

7. Show off a little.

All that basketball? Yeah, it’s not just for fun. “We play basketball every day — we have teams and rivalries on tour,” says Roxx. Drake’s signature move? “He is the trick-shot king,” says Roxx. “He does these trick shots from laying down in the middle of the court, throwing the ball over his head — swish.
